Haahaha, oh wow. Your ID beats the shit out of mine. If I may inquire, how did you create this effect? Was it difficult, easy, is there a technique specifically for this?

Thanks a bunch for the compliment! Glad you like my ID.

I made the effect from scratch in PhotoShopCS2 using layer masks, saturation layers and a ton of grunge brushes.
It was a fairly easy, albeit lengthy process mostly because the grunge layers had to be transparent enough let
the text underneath show through, yet opaque enough to look like dirt and grime.

Ach, I knew it had to have something to do with one of those grunge brushes! I'm definitely going to try and replicate that technique... it just strikes me as beautiful. As for the transparency, did you try changing the layer style to something like lighten or darken? I hardly ever have to use transparency bars if I play around enough with the style.

I have 3 layers of grunge with varying levels of opacity set on normal, to preserve their color, and one more set on hard light to give it a bit more volume and definition. I usually add a few more layers to create more variety, but with the text on the ID, I couldn't do it without compromising its legibility.

LOL, this is neat, well ... maybe neat is the wrong word here, definitely an interesting interpretation. Your self portrait looks like someone who really doesn't have time to pose for such nonsense ... I get these kind of facial expression from people all the time when I try to take their pic., lol. (or you should be working and got caught goofing off :laughing:)

Doesn't pose for nonsense, and occasionally forgets to take his wallet out before throwing his pants in the wash (Which is where I got the idea to batter up the ID, sadly enough). :P

I'm glad you like it though. It's always nice to know I did a good job on facial expressions. :D
